Impact Stakes

This is a twist on the tried-and-true rebar stake.

After many years of using traditional rebar stakes and a vise grip to spin them before pulling them out and almost having a heart attack, I developed these stakes. The impact stakes are driven into the ground the traditional way, with a hammer. I find this to be the most reliable and easiest thing to do. The stakes require a driver to hammer on. This driver is solid steel and allows much more of the impact from the hammer to be absorbed by the stake, meaning it drives in with less swings.

Where these stakes really shine, and get their name, is when you pull them out of the ground. The specially designed hex coupler on the end of the stake is made to fit into a special socket that fits on a ½ inch drive cordless impact wrench. This allows you to use the power of the impact wrench to turn the stake in its hole. Once a stake is spun and broke free of the grip of the ground it is easy to pull. The socket is made to couple to the stake so as you are spinning the stake you can pull up on it as well. This allows you to walk the stake right up out of the ground.

I started using this system in the 2019-2020 winter and have never gone back. To this date I have used it to set and pull thousands of stakes and have taken hundreds of coyotes and bobcats with it. The snare supports I make to fit on these stakes makes or a very secure and easy to use system.
